Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico and check into The Posada LunaSol hotel. Enjoy the evening at your leisure to explore La Paz and dine at one of its excellent restaurants. Day 2: Start your day with a delicious breakfast at our poolside cafe (served from 7 to 9 am). Meet your guide at the hotel lobby for an orientation and to collect rental gear and personal flotation devices (PFDs) (specific time will be provided in the hotel welcome letter). Transfer by boat to Espiritu Santo Island. Upon arrival at the camp, enjoy lunch and receive a camp and kayak orientation. Spend the day paddling in the bay, followed by a happy hour and dinner. Overnight at the first beach camp. B/L/D (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner) Days 3-6: Depending on the winds, our experienced guides will present a plan to move the camp to other islands such as San Jose and San Francisquito. Each island offers exciting opportunities for guided kayak excursions, snorkeling, nature walks or hikes, and fishing trips. Our guides and crew will choose the best activities based on the weather and your preferences or abilities. They will schedule optimal days for snorkeling with sea lions, interspersed with paddling between camps, nature walks, and snorkeling at other spots. You will have the chance to camp on 2-4 different beaches. Please note that this itinerary may vary significantly depending on the winds, time of year, and group size. During the fall months of October and November, after the rainy season, some beaches may have bugs that make camping undesirable, although they are suitable for spring trips. Additionally, some beaches are small and can only accommodate smaller groups of 6-10 people. Fishing excursions by boat will be offered in the mornings and evenings for those interested. B/L/D Day 7: Enjoy a pleasant paddle or a morning nature walk with the guides. Have an early lunch at the camp, and then transfer back to La Paz by boat, arriving mid-day. Upon arrival in La Paz, check into the hotel and take a refreshing shower. Spend a relaxing afternoon in this charming seaside town, and enjoy dinner at one of La Paz's many excellent restaurants. Overnight at the hotel. B/L Day 8: Today is a travel day for returning home or continuing your trip in Baja. B/L/D indicates meals included with the trip cost. Please note that while we make every effort to adhere to the above itinerary, it is subject to change due to factors beyond our control, including weather conditions and wildlife sightings. Snorkeling with whale sharks is dependent on calm seas, so its availability will depend on the weather and the presence of sharks when passing their feeding ground on our way to or from Espiritu Santo Island. We will do our best to provide at least one opportunity for snorkeling with whale sharks when they are present and the weather conditions are suitable, typically from October through mid to late March, sometimes even into April. In the event that the port is closed due to high winds and we are unable to reach the island on the departure day, we will provide a land-based activity for that day.
